A fearless goat-herding dog who refused to abandon his flock amid the deadly wildfires in California miraculously survived the flames that torched the property completely. His owner, Roland Tembo Hendel said: 'Odin has lived up to his namesake..He is our inspiration. If he can be so fearless in this maelstrom, surely so can we.'
Dave Krienke and Mike Vasilik (pictured) were filming a skateboard stunt in New Jersey when it all went dramatically wrong. In the video, one guy pours petrol down a large boulder but he also spills the flammable fluid down the skater’s very baggy trousers. They seem entirely unperturbed by the fact that he is now doused in petrol and the friend enthusiastically lights the stream of fluid running down the boulder which ignites in a fire path. But bizarrely he then lights his friend who is suddenly engulfed in hungry flames.

He began working on the drawing on October 66, and worked almost non-stop for five days until Sunday. The entire experience culminated with a signing ceremony at the Empire State Building on Monday night.
Ill fares the land, to hastening ills a prey,
Where wealth accumulates, and men decay:
Princes and lords may flourish, or may fade—
A breath can make them, as a breath has made:
But a bold peasantry, their country’s pride,
When once destroyed, can never be supplied.
The Deserted Village : Oliver Goldsmith

The names of two Nazi officers who may have been tortured to death by British interrogators can finally be revealed after a 75-year battle with the intelligence services who still refuse to identify them. SS Lieutenant Helmut Tanzmann (left) and Gestapo chief Hans Ziegler (inset left) have now been identified after a painstaking analysis of formerly classified documents. Lieutenant Tanzmann was given the false name of Hans Eric Koch on his death certificate (bottom right) while his gravestone (middle bottom) carries his correct name. The two German officers were being subjected to harsh questions over war crimes at the secret London Cage interrogation facility (top right) by its head Colonel Scotland (middle top). Historian Helen Fry has finally identified the officers after forensically combing through now declassified files. It raises the possibility that their families could now sue over their suspected brutal treatment.
